Main stories in the April issue:

Maharishi celebrates the global rise of the Rule of Raam

27 March was a special day in the Vedic calendar: Raam Navami, the birthday of Raam, the value of intelligence that administers all the diverse expressions of Natural Law throughout the entire universe. Raam Navami also celebrates the dawn of Raam Raj – ideal administration by cosmic intelligence.

Celebrating with the international audience, Maharishi reflected that whatever anyone does, he does it from his inner thinking; and, fortunately, we have been given the key of how to think from self-referral Transcendental Consciousness. That key, Maharishi said, had been received from Guru Dev, and had been distributed to the people of the world family, in more than 100 countries. Now, he said, there are sufficient people everywhere who have the royal skill of thinking from within to celebrate the birth of Raam Raj.

Invincibility – an Absolute

Dr Geoffrey Clements’s column this month explains and illustrates some profound principles of Nature's functioning.

With reference to the development of physics, Dr Clements makes clear that the quality of invincibility cannot be found on the level of the atom as was once thought. Orbitals, the laws governing the circulation of electrons around the atomic nucleus, provide a more immutable principle; but these too are not invincible.

Referring to a series of charts from Maharishi Vedic University, Dr Clements goes on to show that true invincibility exists only at the deepest level – which can be equated with the Unified Field of all the laws of nature. At other, more expressed levels, there may be some level of immutability, but not full invincibility.

Invincibility, he explains, cannot be realised without taking recourse to the absolute, unchanging field of pure existence. This is why all attempts to create immunity from attack by military force, treaties, or other means have foundered. In contrast, through implementing Maharishi's scientifically based programme for creating true Invincibility, we can also bring the other absolute qualities of peace, stability, and harmony to every nation and the world.

NEW POLICY:
TM teaching to start again in schools in England and Wales;
National Coherence Days to be restarted

The teaching of Transcendental Meditation and associated programmes can once again proceed, unrestricted, in dedicated Maharishi Schools for the pupils and their parents, in England and Wales. The same applies to outside schools where the pupils are learning Transcendental Meditation collectively as part of a special school programme.

National Coherence Days – a special whole-day programme of extended practice of Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi programme – have been recommenced in England and Wales, with the first taking place around the country on Sunday 1 April, and the next on 20 May.

This initiative comes under project one of the Six-Point Plan of the Global Financial Capital, the goal of which is to create indomitable coherence and positivity in national consciousness and raise the nation to Invincibility. The most immediate way to accomplish this is for existing Sidhas and Meditators to enjoy group practice on a daily basis, whenever possible, in their own locality and to come together for these monthly events and other coherence-creating programmes.

Also under project one, the Maharishi European Sidhaland is hosting a National Invincibility Month starting in April with a special focus over the Bank Holiday weekend Friday 4 to Monday 7 May. All Governors and Sidhas are warmly invited to join the coherence-creating group in the Maharishi Golden Dome (phone 01695 50306 for details)

Scotland’s Invincibility programme receives boost from
"Enlightened Educator", Dr Ashley Deans

Dr Ashley Deans, Director of the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, USA, visited Scotland from 16-19 April as part of his European tour to promote Maharishi’s Consciousness-Based Education.

Dr Deans’s lectures and conferences added great impetus to the programmes underway in Scotland, especially the establishment of a Maharishi Invincibility School. The purpose of this school, besides providing a quality of education hitherto unavailable in Scotland, is to provide a permanent group of 200 Yogic Flyers, which will create Invincibility for Scotland on a long-term basis.

Awards success at Maharishi School

The front cover of this issue features a picture of pupils meditating at Maharishi School in Lancashire, with the caption: "Maharishi Invincibility Schools will raise Britain to Invincibility¨. At the same time as contributing to coherence in national consciousness, this school continues to shine in every way.

An article that appeared in The Champion newspaper in Merseyside reported on 14 March: "In this year’s National UK Intermediate Maths Challenge, students from the Lathom school [Maharishi School] excelled more, picking up two Gold, three Silver, and three Bronze awards. ...

"The school's headteacher, Derek Cassells, said: ‘To win a Bronze award you need to be in the top 20% of competition entrants. To achieve a Silver certificate you have to be in the top 14%, and to receive a Gold you must be in the top 6%. So our students’ achievements are quite exceptional.’"

Schools are nurturing Invincibility in Peru

Three schools in Peru have, for a number of months, been serving as Invincibility Schools. Pupils have the opportunity to gain Enlightenment while simultaneously contributing to world peace through their daily group practice of the Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying.

One of the schools, Prescott School, is a renowned private school in Puno on Lake Titicaca, the highest lake on earth. It is being transformed into a Maharishi School with the curriculum being completely restructured to impart Maharishi’s Consciousness-Based Education to awaken the full potential of every pupil. One hundred pupils, teachers, directors, and parents there have recently received instruction in Yogic Flying and are "flying high".

Transcendental Meditation reduces congestive heart failure,
new study shows

Transcendental Meditation significantly decreases the severity of congestive heart failure, according to a first-of-its-kind randomised study published in the peer-reviewed journal Ethnicity & Disease in March.

According to lead author, Ravishankar Jayadevappa, PhD, of the University of Pennsylvania Department of Medicine, the TM group significantly improved on the six-minute walk test after both three and six months of TM practice, compared to the control group. The TM group also showed improvements in quality of life measurements, and depression, and had fewer re-hospitalisations.

Could Transcendental Meditation help athletes win?

Harald Harung, PhD, author of Invincible Leadership: Building Peak Performance Organisations by Harnessing the Unlimited Power of Consciousness is currently conducting a study of world-class athletes in Norway. He is employing measures developed by brain scientists studying Transcendental Meditation, with a view to introducing this simple mental technique into athletic training.

The research found that the world-class athletes did indeed score significantly higher on the Brain Integration Scale as well as on self-development measures. These results indicate that brain integration is important in competitive sports and suggest that if promising junior athletes used Transcendental Meditation, it might help them to reach the top of their sport.

Professor Travis, Director of the Brain, Consciousness and Cognition Center at Maharishi University of Management, Iowa, USA held a press conference at Oslo University College in September 2006 to build upon Dr Harung’s research. Entitled: "Brain, Peak Performance and Full Human Development", Dr Travis’ presentation led to a two-page article entitled: "The State" ("Tilstanden") in one of Norway’s leading newspapers.

In the Press ...

"Meditating for Peace in Iraq" was the title of a letter sent by a Sidha living in Connecticut, USA, to the editor of his local newspaper, Litchfield County Times; it was upgraded to a guest editorial.

It begins: "President Bush has asked for suggestions about dealing with the war in Iraq, so here's mine. Of the approximately 133,000 US troops in Iraq, take 1500 (a little over 1%) of them and train them in the Transcendental Meditation program, and after two months, the advanced Yogic Flying program. This would have a number of scientifically proven effects, based on results from similar experiments ..."

Dr David Lynch visited London in March to promote his latest film "Inland Empire".

The renowned film maker and enthusiastic exponent of Transcendental Meditation, reports that he experienced a tremendously warm response in London. At an interview hosted by The Guardian, which was attended by 400 people, he asked how many were familiar with Transcendental Meditation, and almost every hand in the room went up. There was a very warm and supportive feeling towards Transcendental Meditation, David Lynch said. While the interview was ostensibly about his films, he was delighted when the very first question was about his practice of Transcendental Meditation. The Guardian published a 3,000-word article, extracts from which appear in this issue.

Health and enlightenment through Transcendental Meditation
This article by Susan Baniak of W Weekly, Lexington, USA, reports on the beautiful Maharishi Peace Palace in Lexington, Kentucky, four years after it was opened. Banjak describes it as "a mansion-like estate ... with a striking off-white interior, an open central atrium, and a healthy dose of natural light, ... the modern-day sanctuary for a movement that some may have thought died out in the '70s. …"
