Main stories in the July/August issue:
HEAVEN ON EARTH TO RISE IN THE WORLD THROUGH INVINCIBLE BRAINS AND INVINCIBLE HOMES
Our leading article features the celebration of Guru Purnima in the First Year of Sat Yuga in Meru, Holland. Our report covers the highlights of the celebrations, including ground-breaking ceremonies for new Fortune-Creating buildings that will house the international administration of the Global Country of World Peace.
The article also details the latest plans and achievements of Maharishi’s worldwide organization, offered to Guru Dev on Guru Purnima, which include Maharishi’s programme for raising the sovereignty of every nation to invincibility; the powerful new scientific research of the past year demonstrating the unique benefits for individual and national life created by Maharishi’s programmes of Total Knowledge; the establishment of the Global Financial Capital of New York, and Financial Capitals in every country to crown each nation with invincibility; and the $300 trillion programme for the reconstruction of every building in the world to be Fortune-Creating.
We also report on the Invincibility courses now in progress around the world to promote national invincibility and world peace. At the beginning of July, Dr Peter Warburton, Raja of England, encouraged all Yogic Flyers in England, Scotland and Wales to participate in the Invincibility Courses then starting in several countries, in order to promote their personal enlightenment and support the creation of a more coherent and positive world consciousness, which will benefit Britain and the whole world.
LIVING IN IDEAL VASTU
One couple who are already enjoying the benefits of living in a Fortune-Creating home are Marion & Francis Chalmers, well-known to all in Maharishi’s organizations in Britain. Marion & Francis have now spent over two years in their Maharishi Sthapatya Veda house in North Norfolk.
"Living in proper Vastu, as opposed to living in poor Vastu, is rather like the difference between practising Transcendental Meditation and being, say, an existentialist philosopher. TM is the real thing, and living in Vastu is the proper way to live," summarises Francis Chalmers.
Our article tells the story of how the Chalmers built their award-winning home with the help of an inspired team of architects, builders and Maharishi Sthapatya Veda consultants – including former North Norfolk District Council conservation architect Michael Brackenbury, who regards it as: "The best building I’ve ever done."
VASTU PIONEER MOVES TO GARDEN VILLAGE
Another person already familiar with the benefits of living in ideal Vastu is Nina Robinson, who built Britain’s first Maharishi Sthapatya Veda home in 1991, at the Maharishi European Sidhaland in Skelmersdale, and is now moving to the country’s first Vastu community at Garden Village in Suffolk.
Nina and her partner Bob Glover, one of the first Maharishi Sthapatya Veda consultants in Britain, noticed a whole range of effects from their Vastu home in Skelmersdale, including more positive thoughts and actions, a feeling of peace and silence, more profound meditations - and sleep! – and greater enjoyment of the regular musical gatherings at their home.
Garden Village, reports Nina, is rapidly growing as a community. "The feeling of warmth among the neighbours is already growing," she says. "I have felt this from the moment that Bob and I did the ground-breaking ceremony for the house in 2005."
NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Our regular global summary includes reports from the USA, where the Invincibility Courses have attracted over 2000 applicants, and from Israel, where the Jerusalem Post gave in-depth coverage to an assembly of Israeli Yogic Flyers and interviewed the Prime Minister of the Peace Government of Israel, Alex Kutai, on how Maharishi’s programmes can end conflict in the region.
We also present a summary of the timely activities of Dr John Hagelin and his Global Union of Scientists for Peace. Established last year to stop the threat of nuclear proliferation and nuclear war through the establishment of large, peace-creating groups of Yogic Flyers in every country, the GUSP has since then secured commitments from world-renowned scientists in many nations to serve as presidents of the organization in their countries.
PRESS ROUNDUP
Reports this month include "Free your mind", from the Seattle Business Monthly, which extols the virtues of Transcendental Meditation for stressed executives, and quotes a GlaxoSmithKline researcher endorsing the research on TM as "rock solid". "Pupils schooled in calmer karma" comes from the Melbourne Herald Sun, who report on the uplifting example of a Maharishi School for primary age pupils in the city who are finding that TM assists their enthusiasm for schoolwork. "Great Place You’ve Never Heard Of", not entirely applicable to our readers of course, is from top US sustainable living magazine Mother Earth, and reports on Fairfield, Iowa, home of Maharishi University of Management. The magazine selected Fairfield as one of the top twelve smaller towns in the USA demonstrating civic pride and a healthy economy with a community of people who care about the environment, sustainability, alternative energy and fresh, wholesome food.
"Bliss Hippy Days are here again" is from the London Times, featuring a profile of 1960s singing star Donovan, still going strong and still happily meditating. "TM is a supreme healing system," Donovan told the Times. Finally, "Enter the fourth state of consciousness, businessmen told" summarises Best Life magazine’s US report on the cardiovascular research on TM and its positive implications for stressed business people.
MAHARISHI VEDIC ORGANIC AGRICULTURE: WHERE DOES CONVENTIONAL AGRICULTURE FALL SHORT?
This continuation of our series on Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture examines the hazards of modern agriculture, including erosion of the soil and the perils of genetic engineering of food. It also points out that even conventional organic agriculture is insufficient to fully enliven the nourishing and evolutionary power of Natural Law, which must be thoroughly nourished not only in the food but also in the consciousness of the farmer and the life of the farm. We include a definition of the uniqueness of the Vedic approach to agriculture.
QUESTIONS AND ANWERS WITH MAHARISHI
This month’s excerpts from Maharishi’s weekly global news conferences features the topics: Where should be the ideal place to establish a group of Yogic Flyers?; and, how did you discover Yogic Flying?
GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATIONS: FULLNESS OF KNOWLEDGE AND ACTION
Dr Geoffrey Clements this month devotes his regular column to an inspiring report on July’s Guru Purnima celebrations at Maharishi’s headquarters in Meru, Holland, with particular focus on the success of the ongoing Invincibility Course in Holland. Maharishi, reports Dr Clements, gave a two-fold emphasis to everyone at the Guru Purnima assembly: To inspire Sidhas in every country to come together in groups; and to inspire everyone to live in good Vastu.
