His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi presided over a grand global celebration of the great Vedic festival of Victory Day (Vijaya Dashami) on 12 October.
Peace Government leaders in 108 countries raised in one day the flag of the Global Country of World Peace in as many as possible of the 8,000 locations around the world which are the homes of the different languages, dialects and cultural traditions. Maharishi emphasised that the flag-raising ceremonies are not a mere symbolic gesture to remind the people of the underlying invincible nature of life. "This is not for show," Maharishi said, "each flag is the concrete expression of the awakening of Total Natural Law in the area."
We report on the raising of the flag of the Global Country of World Peace from the South Pacific, the Far East, the Middle East and Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and South America, and North America.
High stress, long hours, bad diet, and substance abuse are facts of life in the workplace today. Brain research show the terrible toll these factors have on the brain – but there is also evidence on what can be done to reverse the damage and optimise brain functioning.
We report on a presentation to the business community in New York, where dramatic pictorial evidence of impaired brain functioning from stress, and a real-time demonstration of an immediate increase in brainwave coherence during Transcendental Meditation, was shown to delegates.
In the USA, more than 8,000 students have attended the David Lynch/John Hagelin "Consciousness, Creativity and the Brain" East Coast college campus tour in September and October, with 5,000 signing up to receive more information about Transcendental Meditation and the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace. We report on the highlights of the East Coast tour, with a further report in our December/January issue.
For decades, Maharishi has been proclaiming that the world will become more peaceful as the widespread application of his Vedic Technologies of Consciousness generates more and more coherence in collective consciousness.
Since July, when Maharishi celebrated and welcomed the onset of the time of peace and perfection in life described in the Vedic tradition as Sat Yuga, media reports around the world have confirmed that conflict and harmony are in sharp decline. "Over the past dozen years, the global security climate has changed in dramatic, positive, but largely unheralded ways," says one recent study. We report on the statistics of increasing world peace.

Ten TM-Sidhas from Britain have recently graduated as Teachers of Transcendental Meditation, Governors of the Age of Enlightenment. MAHARISHI URGES MEDITATORS TO MOVE IMMEDIATELY TO PROPER VASTU
As we go to press, Maharishi has repeated his urgent advice to move to buildings constructed according to Natural Law, and in particular has encouraged all those trained to teach Transcendental Meditation to make that move as soon as possible.
Even practising TM, Maharishi commented, does not save someone from the negative effects of living in a building not constructed according to Natural Law.
IMPROPER LAYOUT OF A BUILDING IS THE UNSEEN CAUSE OF PROBLEMS AND UNREST, MAHARISHI WARNS GOVERNMENTS
Maharishi’s advice to the media to examine the layout of all government buildings in their countries has sparked a wave of interest around the world.
"People do not know that a greater part of the negative influence in life comes from the wrong layout in which they live and work," warned Maharishi. "This is because the direction of the entrance of the office building or residence produces an influence of happiness, harmony and cordiality – or conflict and problems for the people."
Said Matthew Brouillet, president a government reform group in Pennsylvania, a state whose Capitol building faces West: "I think Maharishi just explained everything that’s wrong in Pennsylvania. Summon the bulldozers."
IMPROVING THE FORTUNES OF BRITAIN THROUGH THE RECONSTRUCTION OF ALL GOVERNMENT FACILITIES
His Highness Peter Warburton, The Raja of England, comments on the application of the knowledge of how to build in accord with Natural Law to the performance of government in Britain.
"There can be no hope for a better government and a better future for Britain as long as all of the government buildings in London are wrongly oriented and create a negative influence on the members of government," Raja Peter says. "It is clearly time to replace these old buildings, reconstructing them according to Natural Law, with a clear view of the rising sun."
