Main stories in the issue:
As we go to press with this issue, Dr Peter Warburton, the Raja of England, has announced a new plan launched by Maharishi to accelerate the establishment of Peace Palaces in every town and to train 3,000 new Rajas in the world by Guru Purnima day this year, 21 July.
Raja Peter commented that Maharishi has sensed a new awakening of bliss and positivity in the world, and on Guru Purnima day will celebrate the descent of Sat Yuga on earth. The theme will be: "Welcome to Sat Yuga – the age of positivity; Bye bye to Kali Yuga – the age of negativity."
During a recent global news conference, which was broadcast to all continents via satellite and Internet webcast, Maharishi extended an offer to governments to immediately prevent problems and negativity.
Just three days after the grand conclusion of the coronation ceremony for 14 Rajas of the Global Country of World Peace, Maharishi advised governments: Contract with the Rajas in your area to establish peace-creating groups of Yogic Flyers in the country. The groups will enliven the Constitution of the Universe, which administers the universe with perfect order, to create coherent collective consciousness – the basis of invincibility for the nation.
We are delighted to be able to include the message from the Raja of England which was read out on the national conference call in February. Raja Peter describes the value and significance of the Raja training course, and encourages others to take advantage of the great opportunity Maharishi is offering for individual enlightenment and permanent world peace. "Maharishi is encouraging the leaders of his organisation and the wealthy in every country to take the Raja training course as soon as possible," says Raja Peter. "There are no words to describe the supreme and blessed value of this training – I can only say that everything you have heard Maharishi say about this course is true."
We include a short report on this remarkable achievement, where five pupils from the Maharishi School in Skelmersdale have been accepted as members of the National Academy of Talented and Gifted Youth. NAGTY seeks to maximise opportunities for especially talented youth to fulfil their potential by giving them opportunities to work on a diverse range of interesting and exciting projects.
On 15 February, the prestigious International Herald Tribune published one of the most positive articles ever written about the value of Transcendental Meditation for education, focusing on research to be published in the April issue of the American Journal of Hypertension showing that TM improves the concentration and is a means of enhancing their physical and mental wellbeing. We are very pleased to be able to reprint the article in this issue.
Readers will be aware of the large-scale organic farming projects taking place at Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa. This double-page article from the Des Moines Advertiser charts the great success of these projects, despite the shortage of winter sunlight and other climatic disadvantages of America’s Midwest, and comments on plans to attract Vedic scholars from India who will utilise Vedic sounds to maximise the yield and quality of the plants.
Just about every comment by film-maker David Lynch about Transcendental Meditation is well worth including in these pages. This month it is a pleasure to reprint a 16 January interview from the Chicago Sun-Times where Mr Lynch describes his life, his motivations, and his long association with TM. "We’re just this little ball of people floating near the edge of what we call the Milky Way galaxy," he delightfully concludes, "and there ought to be enough power to light this little ball up with peace."
For many years, Transcendental Meditation has been prescribed by judges as a condition of parole in the Enlightened Sentencing Programme in Missouri, USA. Results have been excellent, as illustrated in this essay by a participant in the programme.
