WORLD PEACE 'JUST AROUND THE CORNER'
By Darran McCann
The results of today's European election may be irrelevant - due to the imminent dawn of heaven on earth.
The spiritual leader of a political party which contested elections in Ireland in the 1990s has said that "the trends of time will take a definite turn towards positivity and peace within a few months".
The Natural Law Party (NLP), which was wound up after a series of unsuccessful elections, adhered to the guidance of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, above right.
The Maharishi, who is the spiritual leader of practitioners of Transcendental Meditation (TM) said that the "time of darkness of the night is over, now is the time for the sunshine".
The Maharishi delivered the good news in a live internet address from the 'Capital of the Global Country of World Peace' in the Netherlands.
He said that the first signs of the worldwide transformation ahead would be produced by teams 'Vedic pandits' - specially trained experts in Yogic flying based in India.
He explained that the pandits are dedicated to "promoting an influence of coherence and harmony in the collective consciousness of 108 countries".
"Negative influences coming to a country will be neutralized by (the) pandits, " the Maharishi continued.
"World peace is now inevitable through these proven approaches, " he said.
Jonathan Hinde, former spokesman for the party, explained the reasoning behind the Maharishi's prophecy.
"What we found was that although the message of the Natural Law Party was very clear, very concise and very believable, people didn't vote for us.
"What the Maharishi has done is shift the entire global focus by establishing a group of professional meditators to reduce the stress and negativity in the collective consciousness.
"What he is saying is that we have reached the stage where, in a few months, we will start to see the effect of this.
Mr Hinde used an analogy to explain the thinking behind the pandits's meditations.
"If you have dry grass, one spark can create an inferno, but if you dampen it down, then you can have all the sparks you like and nothing happens.
"The effect (of the professional meditators) is to ensure that the grass is perpetually damp," he said.
