Subject: Peace creating experts from India to create world peace

(May 19, 2004) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi announced that large groups of peace-creating experts from India are coming forward to create world peace—and within a few months the first signs of peace will dawn on earth.

"Soon, everyone will see global trends begin to change from murder and destruction to peace and the blossoming of all good in life," Maharishi said.

Maharishi’s announcement came during his address to the press attending a National Conference on Ideal Education through Transcendental Meditation that was held in Washington, D.C., on May 12. Nearly 300 top education, government, and health leaders attended the conference. Maharishi spoke live via satellite and Internet webcast from the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in Meru, Holland. Maharishi’s next global news conferences will be held on May 19 and 20.

Maharishi announced that he is creating a peaceful world without waiting for help from governments, which he dismissed as a "shame to human life" because they pay and feed young people to fight and die in another country while the leaders remain at home. "It is a cruelty against the nation," Maharishi said.

Maharishi also said he has launched action to create peace without waiting for the support of America’s rich. Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Maharishi had implored the rich to establish a $1 billion endowment to fund a permanent peace-creating group in India. Instead, the rich chose to keep their money in the bank. "Peace-creating experts from the poor Vedic families of India are coming forward to create peace for the rich Americans who have become fond of destruction," Maharishi said. "Fortunately, within a few months there will be a discernible effect of peace in the world that both rich and poor will enjoy."

The peace-creating experts will practice Vedic technologies of consciousness, including Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying, to quietly promote world peace. Extensive scientific research has found that group practice of these technologies creates coherence in collective consciousness, reducing negative trends, such as crime, violence and conflict, while promoting positive social and economic tendencies throughout society. In addition, the experts will create coherent world consciousness through the recitation of Vedic sounds—the sounds of the Unified Field, which administers the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order.

In response to a press question, Maharishi said that proper education is the basis of permanent world peace. "All problems, all diseases, and all failures in life have their basis in inadequate education—in a lack of total knowledge," Maharishi said. "Today’s education is so isolated—either you study physics or engineering or something else—but such isolated study will never bring satisfaction. Only the experience and understanding of total knowledge—the Unified Field—will satisfy you. Unless everyone has the experience of total knowledge within his own Self, stress and strain and problems and sickness in the individual and society will always continue."

To deliver total knowledge to the whole population, Maharishi said that his Peace Governments in every country are establishing Peace Palaces with Vedic universities, colleges, and schools in every major city throughout the world. Students will learn Transcendental Meditation to gain direct experience of total Natural Law within their own self-referral consciousness and will also gain the intellectual understanding of this field of totality. "Education from the level of total knowledge will create an ideal society and a peaceful world—because everything is possible through proper education," Maharishi said.

Maharishi concluded by saying that with large groups of peace-creating experts being established in India and around the globe, and with Vedic education soon to be offered to students in every country, the dark ages of a cruel world are over. "From the dark ages of an indecent civilisation, we are establishing the reign of the light—the reign of the light of total Natural Law, the light of God—so that everyone will live fulfilment in life, generation after generation," Maharishi said.
