Maharishi offers heads of state formula
to fulfil parental role of government

Groups of Vedic pandits and
Vedic education in the schools
will prevent problems in the nation

"When it is simple to live in the light,
why suffer in darkness?"

(February 9, 2004) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi offered to all heads of state a simple, scientifically proven formula to fulfil their parental role in the nation by preventing problems and bringing affluence and peace to the people through the knowledge of total Natural Law.

Maharishi called for governments to establish in their countries large groups of peace-creating Vedic pandits to enliven total Natural Law—which administers the universe with perfect order—to prevent negativity from arising in the nation. Maharishi also called for Vedic education to be offered in every school, college, and university. Such education, Maharishi said, will enliven the infinite creative potential of total Natural Law—the Unified Field—within the Self of every student for a life free from mistakes and problems.

Maharishi’s offer came during his global news conference on Wednesday, February 4, which was broadcast live via satellite and Internet webcast from the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in Meru, Holland. Maharishi’s next news conferences will be held on February 11 and 12.

"What more can I do for my people?"

"Government always has a parental role in the nation—to give people what they need to enjoy life," Maharishi said. "In his quiet moments, every head of state thinks, ‘What more can I do for my people?’ No head of state wants his people to suffer or face punishment. He is like the parent who provides warm clothes for his children before winter arrives or turns on the light before darkness sets in. Every head of state can now fulfil his parental role for the nation by creating prevention-oriented, problem-free administration through the knowledge of total Natural Law."

Vedic performances to neutralize negative influences coming to a nation

Maharishi said a nation’s destiny is shaped by the past actions of the people. And that is why, Maharishi said, governments should engage groups of Vedic pandits. "Through Vedic performances, such as Grahashanti and Yagyas, the Vedic pandits will neutralise the negative influences coming back to a nation from the past wrong actions of the people. Then the government will not have to encounter problems anywhere in the nation," Maharishi said.

Vedic pandits must be paid properly

Maharishi emphasised that the Vedic pandits must be paid properly so they are able to maintain their daily routine and perform Grahashanti and Yagyas without the concern of earning money. "Then they will be effective in creating a positive influence in society," Maharishi said.

Maharishi also announced that a group of Vedic pandits is now being established in India. "It won’t be long before every government engages groups of Vedic pandits to prevent any wrong from coming to their nations," Maharishi added.

Administration through education

In response to a reporter’s question, Maharishi said that his Global Country of World Peace—and its affiliated Peace Governments in 108 countries—have been established to serve as an example of prevention-oriented, problem-free administration for the world. (For more information, please visit www.globalcountry.org.) Maharishi said that administration will be through education—education that develops higher states of consciousness by awakening the infinite creativity of the Self in the life of every student. "Then their thinking and behaviour will be supported by the evolutionary power of total Natural Law, and no one will create problems for himself or for others," Maharishi said.

"No one in our dear world family should ever suffer"

Maharishi concluded by emphasising that his message of "administration of total Natural Law" is the same message that has been proclaimed generation after generation. And the intention is the same as well—that no one in the world should suffer. "Now the knowledge and procedures are available for everyone of every age and every language and every religion in every country to enjoy life in affluence and peace," Maharishi said. "So we are fondly offering this knowledge to all governments because we feel that the world is our family—and when it is simple to live in light, then why should anyone suffer in darkness?"
