During his most recent press conference, Maharishi has called on the world press to hold accountable those in power who perpetuate problems and suffering.
"The role of the press is to awaken the people," Maharishi said. "It is not enough for the media to simply report that there are problems in the country – they should rise up to condemn the irresponsibility of those at the helm of the nation. If the media only says ‘Yes’ to whatever the government says, then who will awaken the population?

The celebrations included festive inaugurations, ground-breaking ceremonies, flag-raisings, and resolutions to establish Peace Palaces and Maharishi Vedic Health Centres in the largest cities of the world including 100 in the USA.
In Britain, ground-breaking ceremonies took place for the first two Peace Palaces in Skelmersdale and Aberdeen, whilst Maharishi Vedic Centres throughout the country made resolutions to establish a Peace Palace in their city as soon as possible.
28 projects launched at Maharishi European Sidhaland
Director John Collins reports on Akshaya Tritiya, the Day of Lasting Achievements, at the Maharishi European Sidhaland, Skelmersdale, where a grand inauguration was held by the entire community for 28 projects, and the ground was broken for the MES’ first Peace Palace.
Transcendental Meditation and cardiovascular disease:
Risk factors for heart disease are substantially reduced by practising Transcendental Meditation, according to a new US study published in May. The paper also shows that using Transcendental Meditation slows, and can even reverse, some of the physiological changes, that underlie cardiovascular disease.
