Maharishi vedic organic honey - for those who want the best

What is Maharishi Vedic Honey?

Maharishi Honey is the first Vedic Organic product to become available in the United Kingdom. It is produced on Maharishi Vedic Farms, managed According to Maharishi Vedic Apiculture, by wild bees in the pure unpolluted atmosphere of the virgin tropical forests of Brazil.

Maharishi Vedic Apiculture is a Natural Law-based farming technology based in the Vedic Knowledge in India. The Vedic Knowledge of India upholds Natural Law on all levels of production, promoting the intelligence of the soil, the farmer and the crop. Consequently its crops are most healthy and nourishing for all.

Is it really organic? Because bees fly only up to 5 kilometres from their hives all the land within a radius exceeding 5 kilometres from the hives must be certified organic to allow the certifying agency to certify the honey that comes from it as organic. Also the foundation beeswax must be organic or tested free of chemicals and the honey itself must be tested free of pesticides and other pollutants. All these requirements are met.

Is it really Vedic agriculture?

The full details of Maharishi Vedic Apiculture are a trade secret but the producers confirm that the bee hives face east to the rising sun, that the appropriate Vedic sounds that enliven specific laws of nature are heard by the bees and that the honey is collected at an auspicious time.

Honey in Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health

Maharishi Ayurveda considers that honey is a valuable substance and is traditionally used sparingly, as a Food Supplement, to balance all three doshas (see www.maharishi.co.uk www.maharishi.co.uk for an explanation of the three doshas - Vata, Pitta & Kapha). Honey is particularly recommended as the best sweetener for those who wish to avoid increasing Kapha dosha.

Honey is also recommended as an anupan, or vehicle, for increasing the effectiveness of other specific Maharishi Ayurveda food supplements and Maharishi Honey would be ideal for this purpose.

Maharishi Ayurveda warns that honey should not be heated above 40 degrees centigrade - approximately body temperature - otherwise it loses its nourishing qualities and can have some negative qualities. Therefore, do not mix it with very hot drinks or use it in cooking.

The Puran, a branch of the Vedic literature, explains that the sun has different qualities during the 12 months of the year. Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health connects these 12 qualities to corresponding structures and functions in the human physiology - for example the 12 cranial nerves that control the five senses.

The specific qualities of the sun in the different months also naturally influence the mechanics of the bees' honey production, giving specific beneficial qualities to the honey. The first batches of Maharishi honey were produced in the months of August to October 2002. Honey produced in August and September would be expected to be particularly nourishing for the Optic nerve and sense of sight while that produced in September and October is expected to be nourishing for the Facial nerve and the sense of taste.

The Taste

The honey has a light and clear taste without any cloying quality whatsoever. Comments from users are universally complementary and vary from: "The best honey ever" to "It is a very nice honey."

Quality testing

Maharishi Honey has been tested in a variety of ways by three leading laboratories in Germany and Japan confirming its high quality. The Food Research Laboratory of Tokyo found that it has antibacterial properties, while the German labs found that it contains: Vitamins: B6, C1, thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), pantothenic acid, folic acid, biotin. Essential minerals: calcium, copper, chromium, iron, magnesium, manganese, selenium, silicon, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, zinc.
