(27 May 2003) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi issued an open invitation to everyone who wants to make money, including developers, architects, and builders: Build Peace Palaces and offer courses to bring relaxation and enlightenment to individuals living in stressed, problem-ridden cities and create a better world.

"People do different things to earn money," Maharishi said. "They go into a profession or a business – they even go into the military and kill people as long as they get money. So why can’t creating peace be a profession that makes money? Building Peace Palaces is a way to do something good that will promote happy, healthy individuals and a peaceful world – and earn money."

Maharishi’s invitation came on Wednesday, 21 May, during his weekly global news conference, broadcast live via satellite, Internet webcast, and teleconference call. Maharishi’s next news conferences will be held on 28 and 29 May.

Maharishi’s peace plan calls for 3,000 Peace Palaces in the world’s largest 3,000 cities, including 51 cities in the UK. Already, beautiful 12,000-square-foot Peace Palaces have been built in many cities throughout the world. For example, in just the past few weeks, new Peace Palaces have opened in the United States in Bethesda, Maryland; Lexington, Kentucky; and Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa.

Each Peace Palace will be home to 100 to 200 peace-creating experts whose daily practice of Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying will enliven total Natural Law – the Will of God – in collective consciousness, radiating coherence and harmony throughout the whole society. Each Peace Palace will also offer Maharishi’s consciousness-based courses to promote the total brain physiology, perfect health, and enlightenment of every individual and improve all areas of society.

Maharishi announced that within one or two months courses will be offered in his Vedic medicine to prevent disease and promote health. "Vedic medicine is based on vibrations of consciousness – the fundamental constituent of every physical structure," Maharishi explained. "The entire human physiology is made of these vibrations of consciousness. And the complete scientific knowledge and technology of consciousness to prevent disease and promote health is available in the sounds of the Vedic literature."

"It is on the basis of the authenticity of this Vedic knowledge, hundreds of scientific studies, and nearly 50 years of teaching this knowledge throughout the world to millions of people that we can foresee a more harmonious society and more peaceful world with happier, healthier individuals," Maharishi said. "This plan to build Peace Palaces and earn money will hasten that day."
