"While the world demonstrates for peace, we are quietly creating peace through Transcendental Meditation." - John Collins, Director

For an entire community, creating peace through Transcendental Meditation and yogic flying is their primary occupation

Come to the Maharishi European Sidhaland in Skelmersdale for a glimpse into the future: See how wars will no longer be waged on battlefields, but prevented in the quiet consciousness of the human mind.

Dear Producer or Editor

(15 February 2003) While the British and US governments push for war with Iraq, and millions of people around the world respond by demonstrating for peace, a community in Lancashire, has made the creation of peace their primary occupation.

Every day, twice a day, over 100 residents of the Maharishi European Sidhaland, Skelmersdale, gather together at the "Golden Dome" to practise the stress-reducing, peace-promoting Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. At this time of global crisis, they are also being joined by people from all over the country who also practice Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying. They do it for their own benefit - to reduce stress and develop their full brain potential; and they do it for the world - to reduce global tensions, and promote coherence and harmony for the whole world family.

The Maharishi European Sidhaland, winner of the prestigious BURA Best Practice Award for Urban Regeneration, is dedicated to creating inner and outer peace. Their target is to establish a group of 800 Yogic Flyers to make Britain "a lighthouse of peace for the world", rather than a promoter of war, arms sales and destruction.

We would like to invite you to come to the Maharishi European Sidhaland for a glimpse into the future - to see how wars will no longer be waged on bloody battlefields, but prevented in the quiet consciousness of the human mind. In addition, you can find out about the extensive research, published in leading scientific journals, which shows that group practice of Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying neutralises the acute social, political and economic stresses that fuel terrorism and conflict.

We would also like to invite you to ask Maharishi questions about his programme to create permanent world peace through the establishment of several large groups of Yogic Flyers across the globe. Every week, Maharishi holds a global news conference from his headquarters in Holland that is broadcast live via satellite and Internet webcast.

The story is timely, the photo opportunities are compelling (including large group meditations and Yogic Flying demonstrations) and the interviews with Maharishi as well as with the residents of the Maharishi European Sidhaland - who represent a broad cross section of Britain - will be enlightening and engaging.
