Maharishi telecasts broadcast live on net

Those who practice Transcendental Meditation, including Dr. David Orme-Johnson, a Seagrove Beach therapist, are inviting others to share in a series of weekly teleconferences with His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who says, "I will create peace and establish lighthouses of coherence around the world."

The Father of Transcendental Meditation believes that no system of government currently known today - democracy, communism, dictatorship, or monarchy - has created an ideal society, and that this failure "is a crime against the cosmic potential of human life."

He especially singled out democracy for criticism because "it divides a country against itself and creates perpetual upheaval in the life of the people."

Foreign powers also often "force democracy on developing nations, so that, through a strategy of divide-and-rule, they can take control of the economy... and violate human rights."

The Maharishi operates his Global Country of World Peace from The Netherlands where his comments are broadcast live via satellite, Internet web-cast and teleconference at 10 a.m. local time each Wednesday.

Questions can be e-mailed during the press conference to
WorldPeace@Maharishi Net or by phone at 641-470-1344. To connect live via telephone, call 512-305-4600 and then enter the code 5689, followed by the # key.

Or connect live via Internet: www.mou.org and www.globalcountry.org.

The telecasts are being held in response to last year's terrorism
attacks on New York and the Pentagon. The Maharishi has strongly criticized the U.S. response to the attacks, saying, "Bush's war on terrorism pushes the world toward destruction. This promotes the birth of an enemy."

He offers Vedic Science "to raise governments to the level of total natural law - the will of God."

It is defined as "the knowledge that the unified field is a field of pure consciousness, which is everywhere and in everything and at the basis of the human mind."

In early July, the religious leader said that he could kill world terrorism with love, but that he would need $1 billion to do it, according to a Reuters story provided by Orme-Johnson.

With this money, Maharishi would train 40,000 expert meditators or "Vedic Pandits," who would generate enough good vibes to save the world. At the time the July 4 Reuters story was posted, $85 million toward that goal already had been raised.

Several principles are followed by practitioners, and these principles are backed up by scientific research, Orme-Johnson said.

"I have been deeply involved in this research for 30 years," he said. His research papers have been published in 34 scientific journals. To view them, visit www.Orme-JohnsonRe-search.net.

"As the brain begins to function more coherently, thinking becomes cleared, comprehension broader, health better, and social behavior more ideal, and this influence of coherence permeates society, reducing crime and violence. Even one person in a hundred can create coherence for the rest of society, because coherence is more powerful than incoherence." Orme-Johnson said.

He explains that "to raise governments to the level of total natural law" means to
educate the individuals in society to directly experience that level within so that they spontaneously begin to live the Will of God.
.
The experience of pure consciousness is not a conceptual thought of God, according to Orme-Johnson.

"It is the direct experience of unbounded' awareness. Ideas, beliefs, or other forms of thinking are left behind (transcended) during pure consciousness. Praying does not have the same effect because praying is on the level of an idea or conception of God.
Praying does not create an ideal individual or ideal society," he says, ''as evidenced by the fact that now and throughout history, members of virtually every religion of the world are seen to be out violating their most fundamental religious tenet - thou shalt not
kill."

This is a story that, "touches all our lives," Orme-Johnson said.

"The idea that we now have a technology whereby the world of continuous warfare can be transformed into an era of world peace is so momentous that we are in danger of it being too big for anyone to see.

"But the world is now in the grips of rising coherence in world consciousness, and it is going to happen.

"The advantage of making it known ahead of time is that when it happens, people have a chance of understanding why it happened."
