Between them, the five distinguished speakers at this meeting will lay out the root causes of terrorism and how it can be eradicated without the need for war or violence. This promises to be an interesting and educational evening, with each speaker providing practical advice as to how their listeners can help to bring about a world without war and terrorism, instead of feeling helpless to do anything about it.

FORMAT OF MEETING: Each of the five speakers will have ten minutes to explain his or her proposed strategy, followed by brief questions from the floor. All speakers will have the chance to answer, or comment on, each question.

Pritam Singh: a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Oxford Brookes University, and Green Party Parliamentary Election Candidate for Oxford East, June 2001. Title of Talk: Examining Terrorism. Mr. Singh has been teaching economics, with specialisation on developing countries, at Oxford Brookes University for a number of years, and taught in many Indian universities before coming to Oxford. He is involved in the campaign to close Campsfield Detention Centre. Mr. Singh has written two books and several papers, and is an Editor of the International Journal of Punjab Studies. Dr Geoffrey Clements: Chairman of Maharishi Foundation, and Physicist. Title of Talk: Creating Permanent Peace Through a Reliable Scientific Technology. Peace is Born in the Mind of Man. Dr Clements has been working for almost 30 years on projects in Britain and abroad using the scientifically validated, consciousness-based programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in education, health, business, and rehabilitation, in many cases working with governments. He has also closely examined the well-documented applications of Maharishi's technologies of consciousness in creating coherence and stability in society and in reducing crime and violence, even in war-torn regions of the world.
