HOW TO INSTALL REALONE PLAYER

Now that you have downloaded RealOne Player, you can install it. You will be presented with a number of options. We have selected the options most suitable for the sole purpose of viewing Maharishi streaming videos - you may of course, wish to choose different options. These can later be changed after installation so there is no problem with choosing our recommendations.

The first thing you should notice after the download is a new icon on your desktop - if that is where you directed the download to. If you directed the download into a folder such as "My Documents", you will need to open that folder and find the file.

Friendly Disclaimer:
Although we do not anticipate problems, as with installing ANY new software, it is advisable to take precautions, such as checking the installation file for viruses prior to installation, backing up critical data, etc. We do not take any legal responsibility for what happens as a result of following these instructions. Moreveor, RealOne Player is not our product and thus we cannot control how it functions.

We also recommend you close other applications that you may be running at the time, eg. your word processor, internet connection, and also any web pages you have open, including this one! So it is a good idea that you read the rest of this page before you begin the installation, or print it out first. Remember that even if you have a window minimised onto the task bar, the application is still open, and thus should be closed.

If you want to be really thorough about closing programmes which may be running at the same time, you can also close other applications "running in the background" - some of these you will see in the system tray which is the little set of small icons usually located at the bottom right hand corner of your screen. These can be closed or disabled by right clicking the mouse on them and choosing the "disable", "close" or "exit" options. Don't forget to re-enable them afterwards - some you can do simply by right-clicking the mouse on the relevant icons and choosing the "re-enable", "open" or "start" options - others you may need to clickon Start | Programs | and then select the applications you closed or disabled. Some of these may be anti-virus software, so it is important that you reactivate them afterwards - rebooting the computer should do the trick if you cannot work out how to any other way.

The following shows a typical example of the process of installing the RealOne free player using Windows 98. The process is largely automated and the tutorial below is for reference should you be unsure about what is happening and what you should do.

Please bear in mind that this may not be exactly the same when you install it as the software may have been updated since we prepared this tutorial.
The purpose of the guidelines below is to prepare you for some of the windows you might expect to see during the process so that you are unlikely to be "thrown" by something unfamiliar that may appear.

Simply open the file you have downloaded, by double-clicking on it. (There will be an icon on your desktop if that is where you downloaded it to.) You will see the following after opening the file.

Next a "wizard" appears. It is simplest to choose "express install" - most of the settings this installs can be changed later. Click on "Next".

Techie talk: if you wish to change the default file associations, it is best to do this AFTER installation; we do not recommend using a custom installation for this purpose. (I have tried both ways - take my word for it!).

You are now prompted to read the licence agreement. If you are happy with it click on "Accept".

You are now asked for your connection speed. We have selected a 56k modem but your pc may have a different speed of modem or you may be using broadband. After selecting, click on "Next".

You will now see something like this. Wait until it tells you that it has finished. This will take a few minutes. It may pause for a further few minutes when it tells you that it is "99%" completed. Be patient!

If you wish to customize the settings it is best to do it later. Click on "Finish".

Next you may see something like the following. If it does not disappear soon click on one of the options presented

The following image, or something like it will now fill your whole screen. Simply close it for now, by clicking on the little "x" in the top right hand corner of the window.

Then go back to the webpage on our site where you saw reference to the video you want to watch and click on the link there. This will either launch the video automatically or it will take you to another page where you will have the option to choose a particular video from a list. By simply clicking on the link to the video you wish to watch, RealOne Player will launch automatically and display the video.
