What is Real Player (now known as RealOne Player)?

RealOne Player is a multimedia application which, among other things, enables you to watch certain types of "streaming video" presentations. This is a technology which allows you to watch videos and listen to audio over the internet via your normal dial-up connection, without having to download large audio or video files which would take up a lot of storage space on your computer. It's very simple to use - in most cases you just click on the relevant link as you would normally do to view a new web page. The video will start to play automatically after about a minute or so.

You will need a reasonably good internet connection and reasonably up-to-date computer to get good results, otherwise the images will be a bit jerky and fuzzy. Always check the minimum recommended system requirements. (Older versions of Real Player are available for those with older computers, however, our installation instructions are only for the version as of May 2002).

It's worth taking the time to do this as there are hours of knowledge available on our websites available using this technology. Even if your computer is not sufficiently powerful to display the video images well, the soundtracks may still play successfully and these are well worth listening to. There are also selections of Gandharva Veda music and other excellent audio material on some of our sites.
